How to use the rack finder
Type the letters on your rack. The tool checks every word in a 168,000-word dictionary, keeps only the words you can actually build, and sorts them by base score. That number is raw tile value — the points you would get on an empty board with no premium squares.
On a real board, a word landing on a double-letter or triple-word square scores far more. Use the base score as a shortlist, then look for a placement that multiplies it.
Tile values
| Points | Letters |
|---|---|
| 1 | A, E, I, L, N, O, R, S, T, U |
| 2 | D, G |
| 3 | B, C, M, P |
| 4 | F, H, V, W, Y |
| 5 | K |
| 8 | J, X |
| 10 | Q, Z |
| 0 | Blank (any letter) |
Making the most of a blank
A blank scores nothing on its own, so the solver subtracts the value of the letter it replaces. That is why a seven-letter word using both blanks can rank below a shorter word made only from your real tiles. The blank is still valuable: it lets you reach a triple-word square, complete a bingo, or play through a difficult hook.
Why two-letter words matter
Two-letter words let you play parallel to existing tiles, which is how experienced players reach premium squares and set up hooks. Short words are also the difference between a blocked board and an open one. If you want to improve quickly, memorizing the two-letter list is the highest-value hour you can spend.
Frequently asked questions
How are the scores calculated?
Standard English Scrabble tile values, summed with no board multipliers. Words that need a blank lose the value of the covered letter, since a blank is worth zero.
How many points is a blank?
Zero. It can stand for any letter, but it adds nothing to the score. Place it on a premium square when the whole word is multiplied.
What are the best two-letter words?
AA, AE, AI, AL, AR, AS, AT, AW, AX, AY, BA, BE, BI, BO, BY, DE, DO, ED, EF, EH, EL, EM, EN, ER, ES, ET, EX, FA, GO, HA, HE, HI, HM, HO, ID, IF, IN, IS, IT, JO, KA, KI, KO, LA, LI, LO, MA, ME, MI, MM, MO, MU, MY, NA, NE, NO, NU, OD, OE, OF, OH, OI, OM, ON, OP, OR, OS, OW, OX, OY, PA, PE, PI, QI, RE, SH, SI, SO, TA, TE, TI, TO, UH, UM, UN, UP, US, UT, WE, WO, XI, XU, YA, YE, YO, ZA.
Is this an official Scrabble tool?
No. Scrabble is a trademark of Hasbro in the US and Canada and of Mattel elsewhere. This is an independent helper, and its dictionary is not the official tournament word list.
Does it work with Words With Friends?
Word validity is close but not identical, and Words With Friends uses different tile values (J is 10, for example). Use the list as a strong starting point, then check the word in the specific game.
Note: Scores shown are base tile values without board bonuses. Official tournament play uses a licensed word list that differs from the public dictionary used here, so some words may be challenged in sanctioned games.
